I'm realizing that writing these emotions out isn't doing anything for anyone compared to how I really feel. I'm sure my blood pressure is sky high and I'm in danger of having a stroke. I'm just so angry and I want them to do so well but me sitting in my living toom doesn't help them to get their act together. i can't imagine if I were actually there.

Job Search

Is it rude for jobs to wait months upon months before contacting you for an interview or even to just make a decision about your hire? I received a phone call yesterday from a company that I applied to back in May asking for a resume update and about what I'm doing now. I hardly remembered applying to their company, and here I am with a job that I'm less than thrilled about, but that I'm keeping to get some kind of longevity on my resume.

On the same note, Hans applied for a job in May and got contacted for an interview in June. There was a phone interview and they waited 3 weeks to get back to him, THEN, they flew him out a month later and then said they'd get back to him in two weeks and three weeks later they told him that they hadn't made a decision yet. I feel that He and I are waiting to see what will happen with our lives and this company is playing with that. It just seems so rude to me that they would take so long to make a decision. I'm lucky enough to have an awesome brother that I can live with, but if he weren't here I don't know what I would do cause I have absolutely no desire to move home.

I'm at least happy that Hans found another job to apply for, this time in NYC. It would be a fantastic change from Minnesota.

Countdowns

I've been thinking about countdowns lately. Be it countdowns until the end of work or until a big day. My thoughts in this area began with me seeing a ton of people on facebook of all places, counting down to the next big thing in life. Now if someone were to know me, they would know that I'm the QUEEN of counting down. I've counted down to my birthday for months in advance. I countdown until I get to see someone special again or until I get another day off. Well I've recently put more thought into the concept, and more thought into how important we have to make each day of our lives. I haven't lost anyone recently to give me this thought, but how often do we hear others tell us to live our lives to the fullest and to live each day like we're dying tomorrow. What would you do if you had time...well I wouldn't be counting down, but I'd enjoy my life in that moment and in every moment. I want to make more memories in the meantime, not only in the big times. I wanna go to the beach more and make picnics more. Go on fancy dates or not even fancy but just plain fun and silly dates. It's refreshing to not be thinking about the next big thing in my life. I can't say I'm not going to countdown at all. I don't think I can completely forget about counting until my next day off, and birthdays are exciting. I just will make it my goal to only count to myself occasionally. A small reminder of what's to come but not enough to keep me distracted from my life I'm living in today.

Trash the Dress- I don't get it.

So recently a friend of mine got married, and then even more recently she decided to have a trash the dress photo shoot. Now, I hadn't really heard of this more than just a little prior to her doing this, and just the sound of it kind of threw me off. Why would you want to trash this dress that you spent 'the most important day of your life' in? This dress that you spend hundreds of dollars in. My first impressions had me feeling that it was kind of taunting of the marriage or maybe even disrespectful of the marriage. My confusion of how I felt about it, mainly my negative feelings toward it, had me read more into it and into what others had to say about it.

The result-finding some pretty pictures of brides and grooms doing not so traditional things in their wedding fair, namely, the bride swimming in it or riding a horse in it or walking in the woods in it. Most of the pictures I saw aren't exactly trashing the dress and I was glad/dissappointed to see how intact the dresses were in the end. It's like, instead of trash the dress it's go into the country or on the beach in your dress and don't worry about it if it gets a little dirty. I feel like I would have that mentality on my wedding day any way.

I just don't see how it's any different than taking pictures outside. Some of them were more intense. I wish I could feel ok with doing something more extreme, but my heart would just be thinking about the person that could use my dress as their own, something that maybe couldn't have afforded it otherwise. I'd love to do a trash the dress shoot, where I have fun in the dress, and then still be able to donate it. Maybe fishing in my dress or going to the county fair in my dress. Not swimming in mud or even jumping into a river.

Gosh I'm a prude.

Life's a changin'

I haven't written in too long, and I know I have too many posts that say that, so I'd like to start fresh, start anew, and write about life, not about school and how much I'm hating school, because it's easy to write about life when I finally have time to live it now. There is so much excitement going on around me.

Let me begin by re

pping my life since about May 15th when Hans Graduated from Macale

ster College. I'm so proud of him and excited that he was able

to get such a great degree from such a prestigious and tough school. I'll come back to what we're going, what's going on with us and our upcoming life together.

arning for a puppy and talked Hans into letting me and eventually us getting one. The story behind that: for the last year I've been looking at craigslist at the pets that are listed as needing a home. I always email them to Hans and say something like 'how about this one?' and he just laughs it off and says no. Well on that Monday there were two Mini Doxies listed. they were 10 week old puppies and so so so cute. Well, I spent the rest of the day researching about dachshunds, how they fit into a life, would I be able to find an apartment with them, how are they to train, how do you train them well...and numerous other questions. It turns out that mi

ni doxies are PERFECT for my life, for my and Hans' life.

And so, I called him and told him I'm getting one. He told me to tell my mom to get it,

we don't have time, yada yada. I called me mom and told her to go get one, and then cause my mom is SO awesome, she said, Sonja, if you want a puppy, get a puppy. It's a pain at times, but for the most part you'll love it and

in a few months it won't be any different." So, I called Hans and told him I was on my way to get them. He said,

OK, well come pick me up then so I can see them too. We went and picked out the little girl, who we now call Napa and love so so much. She is awesome.

The next Friday I finally was finished with nursing school and on Saturday I graduated from Bethel with a degree in nursing.

I spent last month studying for my nursing boards and then on June 17th I passed and now am an RN.

I moved back to my hometown at the end of June and am living with my older brother right

now until the next part of life occurs. Hans left for Baltimore today where we're waiting to hear if he

gets a job or not. The interview is tomorrow...keep your fingers crossed. I'm so excited to have the chance to move to a new area with the man

I love a lot. It'll him and me and the 'kid' and I know it's going to be great.

Horny Goat Weed

Today I was at the grocery store and as I was trying to find my acidopholus I ran into a bottle that said Horny Goat Weed. What the?!?! I thought but I had to look further so here I am to report my research.

Horny Goat weed, also known as more officially as epimedium, is a supplement used in chinese medicine for decreased libido. it also assists with ED. This is what the plant looks like.

So I didn't actually look that much into it. I think it's be great to start looking up what these different herbs can be used for. I'm currently studying for the NCLEX exam and I think that if I were to write a little about each of the herbal supplements it could help me. I've never had this particular one mentioned before.

This guy seems to know everything that I don't about it...so if you're curious just check him out.

I don't even have a good reason to be writing other than an amusement with the name.

puerto vallarta!

spring break! and Mexico with my boyfriend for spring break could possibly be the best thing EVER!! It was fantastic, sunny, warm and fun. Hans and I went on a zipline tour of the canopys. It was so so fun, but of course as with other foreign countries I've been to I had a reaction to the trees. We also went whale watching and saw a family of three that we kind of stalked a bit. at first they would just come up for air, but then they started showing off (pictures to come) and at one point the baby came about 5 feet from our boat and jumped, getting us wet and my camera wet. It was really great. We got some pictures of them jumping far off too so they are fantastic. We spent time on the beach and played a lot of cards with Ben. Zach drove Hans insane a bit but I don't think he is completely sick of my family.

working on applying to jobs. If anyone has suggestions for nursing jobs (RN) I'd love the connection. I'm exicted to get a job and start out.

Currently I'm obsessed with the song Swim by Jack's Mannequin.

I first impression of the song was kinda meh, but after seeing Jack's in concert last weekend (they're my favorite band) my mind was changed because I heard Andrew McMahon talk about what this song means to him and I found myself looking at the lyrics differently.

You see, there are so many people in my life that I think could use a listening or two of this song so they could see how much I need them to just swim. And as a soon to be professional nurse I think it's insanely important for many of my clients and patients to hear this. Its something I wish I could pass on in their darkest moments. There is one person in my life that particularly needs to hear this song and it's my hope to pass it on to her soon. Life just gets dark sometimes and it feels like we're drowning, but Jack's Mannequin gives us hope in their song, and I think hearing that A: others get down and that B: people are there to help keep you up, can be very helpful to people.

This is my first real live meaning ful post in decades...or months. But that being said. I just was thinking about this song and loving it and wanted to share the love.

Hello No One,

Yet again I've failed to write anything for a very long time. I went to Uganda and my life has actually been somewhat interesting but apparently not much to tell you on here. And again I'm uninspired to write. But I guess I can make it a goal of sorts to write on here monthly? I wanted to say weekly but lets be real, that won't happen.

Life is as a standstill currently but about to take a drastic change. I graduate from college in a mere 3 months and Hans has to make up his mind about us in that time and so I feel like I'm losing my mind thinking about the possibilities of change in the near future. If things went my way (which would be nice) I'll get a job in whatever city Hans gets into grad school in and then we'll be happily together for life. In my reality of life though, I imagine that I'll graduate, not have a job, and then he won't let me join him and I'll go on a two year assignment travel nursing. Not bad money but then I don't have my man and I don't feel like that's fair to me. I'll miss him too much.

I started working out again, and I even ran. My goal is to do a 5k the week before graduation. That means I have 3 months to start running regularly and do about 3 miles. I used to be able to do that...and maybe will be able to again. I think I should just register. I'll have to get to Hans' graduation, but that will be at 1:30 and I can get done running by 11 I think. So I'm going to register.

Gosh I'm terrible at this...

So in all reality...homework should be happening right now. but in true celebration with the title, I'm working on a procratination and writing for the first time in months. maybe in real life after graduation I'll have more interesting things to say. Maybe I should start posting about the things I'm learning about in my bioethics class. I'm constantly saying how that information is interesting and good at being a conversation starter.
NOt really going to go there now.
I'm quickly learning the stresses of applying to grad school by watching Hans do it. It seems rather miserable. It'll be nice when we know what his life is going to be next year.

I graduate in 228 days. So that's exciting.
I just can't believe that I'm that close to graduating.

Its been a big sports weekend...mainly for the Twins and then tonight for the Vikings game.

Twins are rocking my world currently. I really really wish I could go to their tie breaker game tomorrow night. I don't know that I'll be in the Metrodome again.

So today is my favorite holiday...happy 4th of july. the big bummer is though, that i usually celebrate with family and friends, neither of which i have up here today. All of my friends from ELDB are off and I'm working with a nasty nurse that won't let me go with them to celebrate. So my favorite holiday this year blows. i don't even get to go to the fireworks tonight.

I remember being a kid and always having kababs with my best friend kendra's family. We'd watch the fireworks from our house up over the roofs of the town houses and play games. the 4th is a day that i often remember my dad because he always made the holiday very special for everyone. he'd cook us good food and we'd have a blast spending time together.

Life as a camp nurse: Week 1.

Hola!

I'm about a week and a half into my first job working in a very nurse-like position and there are several thing's I've learned as a result of it. A: I'm never going to be a school nurse. B: I actually DO love to take care of people and helping out the kids here has been a blast and very rewarding. C: Siesta is my favorite part of the day. D: Introverts need to special attention to taking care of themselves at camp.
I'm working with a fabulous nurse practitioner this week and I'm learning so much from her about the profession and about life in general. She shares so much about herself and her life. About marriage and health practices. I'm excited to have her here this week.

Last week we had orientation and I got a chance to know some of the health care staff at other villages. some of them are at some of the other sites around this area so we have kept in touch and plan to get together on weekends when we aren't working. That's one thing about this job...we're always on call until a 12 hour break. Luckily the kids go to bed kind of early and the counslers deal with them when they're in their casas. I only have to get up in an emergency and the nurse prefers it if she gets up so that she knows what's going on.
I've gotten to do some really cool stuff since I've been up here. Yesterday we had a situation where a kid with a severe anaphalactic reaction thought she may have been exposed to the allergen. After trying to calm the child down I ended up having to call the mother. It was a night of PR and I was extremely nervous but as it turned out the Dean of our camp tole me later that the mother called her and said I handled it beautifully and that I was the best camp nurse she had experienced with her child. This made me feel great. I'm glad that I have enough training and I know what to do in a situation. If the mother of a child with anaphylaxis is happy with how I'm caring with her daughter then I'm happy too.
What else can I say?
The food here is good, sometimes really good. And I love the staff. It' awesome how close you can become to some people when you spend more than 12 hours a day with them every day of the week. I assume our relationships will only get better.

So Monday was Home Opener and it was a terrible game. Last night was an extremely exciting ending and tonight it will be a great game to watch. I'm really excited to to head to the game.

Crede is the only new addition to the line up this year and he seems to be doing really well so far. It's nice to have a good third baseman again.

I'm psyched to have Michael Cuddyer back on the field. I would probably consider him my favorite player and I love to watch him play. Hopefully he's all fixed up so I'll see a lot more of him this year.

It's about time for Joe Mauer to stay healthy. The guy is cute at a button but really has health issues.

I don't have much else to say about it. I'm just excited for the season to be finally starting and I love the Twins!!!

Learning about myself

So for class I had to learn about my typology and my learning style. I found this very interesting and had to write an essay about it so I thought I would just post the essay here (telling you what I learned) and then also post links to the little questionaires so that if you want to learn about yourself you can also do this.

Taking the two learning style assessments was both interesting and informative to my study style and myself. The first, the Jung Typology Test categorized me as ISFP- introverted sensing feeling perceiving. The fact that I’m introverted is no surprise to anyone that knows me. Keirsey.com says that my personality type is that of an Artisan composer. This type acts in the here and now, but put a lot of time into their work. They are empathetic and sympathetic. Speaking isn’t their forte and most would much rather show how they feel. This group of people are in touch with the reality of their senses according to J. Butt. An ISFP has the capability of being the life of the party on one occasion, and then the next they’ll sit quietly in the corner to themselves.
I found it very interesting to look at the Jung Career Indicator and to see where my typology fits in the wide world of careers. There were many fields I considered going into when I first began thinking about my future and this site showed me that many of the things I was deciding between would have fit. It was relieving, in a way, to see that my current profession of choice was on there, nursing. I also could have gone into education and been in a field that fits who I am. Cosmetology was also on the list, and this was surprising to me. I don’t see myself as a social person and cosmetologists seem to need the ability to chat it up small talk style with clients when they come in.
The learning styles and strategies inventory showed me that I’m very much a reflective and sensing learner. I’m very much in the middle between visual and verbal and also with global vs. sequential. It was no surprise to me to find that I like to think things through before actually taking part in them. I reflect a lot to make sure I understand what I’m doing. I believe I do this so I can be sure I know what I’m doing. I also wasn’t surprised to learn that I’m a sensing learner, as I am very much into facts and theory doesn’t appeal to me. I find it very difficult to learn and these are the classes that I struggle with. It was nice to learn ways to overcome this and modify it, such as asking for specific examples of the concepts and learning about application of the concepts. Technology is adding a great deal to the next category of learning, visual versus verbal. It used to be that verbal was all that was available. With powerpoint, projection screens, email, and blackboard professors are much more able to show visual learners what they need in order to learn. This is the main area that technology comes into play.

love stories

It's no secret that I'm a sucker for love stories. To contradict that, I seem to like to come off tough and immune to the sappyness of it all, but as soon as I enter into the life of two people and their love I'm hooked and am fighting for them to work out in the end.

Why do I hide this part of me?

There are two reasons I can think of. I grew up one of the guys, a tomboy, and never really watched the girly films, and when I did I automatically resented them because all good tomboys do.
The real reason though, is because I know real life isn't Hollywood perfect and as much as I want life to turn out in a happily ever after it just doesn't ever seem to work out that way.

I hate letting myself get wrapped up in the fictional love that I'm surrounded with, but I still do it constantly. Take, for instance, the song love story by taylor swift.

I don't even like country but that song is like, WOW, they end up together in the end. Or the song Stealing Cinderella by Chuck Wicks.

Adding a Video

Getting Rid of Flatulence

As I was passing off some flatulence today I began to wonder about this chronic problem in my life and decided it's about time I (tried) to do something about it. I started with Cosmo, an extremely reliable source (ok not really at all) and their tips were to get a gas reducing medication such as BEANo which will cut the gas caused by carbs and beans, or else to go to a private room when you're feeling extra gassy and do some sit ups. The sit ups will force the gas out of your system and leave you feeling great...like this guy.

Obviously you would WANT to do that in the privacy of a room by yourself.

Harvard Medical School says to eat slower, drink less carbonated beverages, don't smoke, avoid sulferous foods to avoid the extremely ranky, cut out sweets with High Fructose Corn Syrup, and finally...my personal favorite, Odor-eating underwear. They’re the opposite of the whoopee cushion: seat cushions with charcoal filters that are supposed to absorb flatus. Dr. Michael Levitt, a Minneapolis researcher famous for his flatulence research, reported results comparing the cushions with other products made with odor-eating materials. Underwear made with an activated carbon fiber absorbed nearly all the sulfur-containing gases; pads worn inside underwear, 55% to 77% of it; and the cushions, only 20%. The underwear is expensive, though: The brand that Levitt used in his experiment costs $65.

There is a HUGE array of foods to avoid to reduce flatulence. Basically all wheat and wheat products, all vegetables, apples, oranges, canteloupe, and apricots, dairy products, beans, and carbonated beverages. I'm not sure wheat else I eat if I take away those things. Strawberries and grapes I guess.

So I hope that helps give you some ideas. Changing your diet is the biggest piece of advice I found but I'll probably try the sit up thing and see where I go from there.

Geeks and Nerds...Hot Stuff!

Why Geeks and Nerds Are Worth It...

In the wide world of dating, there are many options. Do you go for the flashy guy with the smooth smile, or the dude in the corner typing away on his laptop? The following are reasons why I think my fellow females should pay more attention to the quiet geeks and nerds, and less attention to the flashy boys.

1.) While geeks and nerds may be awkward, they’re well-meaning 9 out of 10 times. That smooth dude with the sly grin and the spider hands? Wonder what HIS intentions are... plus, I’ve never had a geek guy not call me when he said he would. Score major points THERE.

2.) They’re useful. In this tech-savvy world, it’s great to have a b/f who can make your laptop, desktop, and just about anything else that plugs into a wall behave itself.

3.) They’re more romantic than they’re given credit for. Ok true, their idea of romance might be to make up a spiffy web-page with all the reasons why they love you, with links to pics of you and sonnets and such... but hey. It lasts longer than flowers, plus you can show your friends.

4.) Due to their neglected status, there are plenty to choose from. You like ‘em tall and slender? There are plenty of geeks/nerds who are. You like ‘em smaller with more meat on their bones? Got that too.

5.) They’ve got brains. Come on now, how can intelligence be a bad thing?

6.) Most are quite good at remembering dates. Like birthdates and such, especially if they know it’ll make you happy. Due again to their neglected status, they’re more attentive than guys who “have more options”. Plus, with all that down time without a steady girlfriend, they’ll likely have mental lists of all the things they’d love to do once they GOT a girlfriend.

7.) Sex. Yep. Sex. I’m not really familiar with this myself, but I’ve friends who’ve been intimate with geek guys and it’s raves all around. They say a virgin wrote the Kama Sutra... all that time thinking about sex, imagining sex, dreaming about sex, (they are male after all) coupled with a desire to make you happy? Use your imagination.

8.) They’re relatively low-maintenance. Most can be fueled on pizza, Twinkies and Mt Dew. No complicated dinners needed here, so if you’re not the best cook, eh. Can you order a pizza?

9.) Most frequent bars as often as slugs frequent salt mines. You won’t have to worry much about your geek guy getting his “groove” on with club hotties because, frankly, he’ll be too busy rooting around under his computer wondering where that spare cable went. You won’t have to worry about him flirting with other women because, 9 out of 10 times, he’ll zip right by them in a perfect b-line towards the nearest electronics store. I’ve seen this happen.
Me: “Eww. Victoria Secret’s Models... They’re so skinny. How is that feminine? You can see her ribs!”
Geek Guy: “ooooooo...”
Me: “Hey!” *notices he is staring lustfully towards the computer store*
Geek Guy: “What?”
Me: “Never mind...”

10.) Although he may not want to go to every outing with you, you can arrange swaps, as in, you’ll go to his Gamer Con dressed as an elf princess if he’ll take you to the ballet. Plus, if he doesn’t want to go someplace with you, you won’t have to worry much about what he’s up to. You’ll probably come home to find him asleep on his keyboard in a sea of Mt. Dew cans with code blinking from the screen. It’s ok. He’s used to this. Just toss a blanket over him and turn out the light.

11.) His friends aren’t jerks. I can’t stress this enough. You’ll more likely get “Omg! A GIRL!! Can I see?!” than “Hey hot stuff back that ass up here and let me get some grub on...” They’re awkward geeks too and will, 9 times out of 10, treat you with the utmost respect and, more than likely, a note of awe. A cute girl picked one of their clan to date? It could happen to them! Hope! Drag some of your single girlfriends over, open up a pack of Mt. Dew, crack open the DnD set and get working. Nothing impresses geek guys more than a girl who can hack-n-slash (well ok maybe if she can code... a geek can dream).

12.) They’re rarely if ever possessive. They trust you, so you can be yourself around them. You like to walk around the house in a ratty t-shirt for comfort? He won’t care. He does too! They won’t get pissy if you don’t wear make-up or don’t want to bother primping your hair. If you gain a few pounds, they won’t try their best to make you feel like crap.

15.) And the final reason why geeks and nerds make great boyfriends: They actually give a damn about you. Thailand Review

So I've been back from Thailand for a week now and I thought I better give it a review so you can know if going in the future is a good plan.

I will say that I am very glad that I went on this trip. I got to see a completely new culture. I've traveled quite a bit for a 21 year old. That being said Thailand was so much different than any other place I've been. I will highly recommend to you to go to Asia at some point in your life. Is Thailand the right place to go? I'm not sure I would say that.

I had to laugh in one of our last lectures because the lecturer said Once you come here you're bound to come back. I'm not so sure that's true for me. Like I said, I'm glad I went.

Thailand is a very friendly country. It is also a very smelly country (namely Bangkok) and there are quite a few culture shock things to be mindful of. They don't use toilet paper, instead they have a water squirter (much like we westerners have next to our kitchen sink) that they use to wash themselves off. When walking through the streets there are tons of street vendors, and a lot of the food has flies crawling around everywhere.

Another interesting piece of culture that was a little difficult to get adjusted to was their foot phobia...of sorts. It's not that they're scared of feet, but feet are very rude parts of the human and one has to be very mindful of where they're pointing them/putting them. I never seemed to know if I was doing it right.

Temples are beautiful but there are only so many you can look at before you go nuts from looking at them because eventually they all look very similar. That being said, there was a blue buddha at the last temple we visited and that was beautiful. It was also a medical buddha. Right up my alley pretty much.

For the class i have to write a paper and me writing this is me avoiding that paper, hence Sonja's Procrastinator. I should probably try to get to it though.

Elephant Poop

HEY HEY HEY!!!

So we're back from the elephant camp and it was phenomonal!!! I love it so much and i just wish I could call you and rave about it! When we first got there we had to walk across an Indiana Jones Bridge to get to the actual camp. My friends were freaking out because of scaredness but it was hilarious. Then I got to feed the elephants some sugar cane. other gave them bananas. Then we saw them bath in the river and then there was an elephant show where we saw them paint a picture and do a bunch of other things. THEN we got to ride them .

There were two of us per elephant and we were basically sitting on a bench on top of the elephant but it was a 90 minute ride through the jungle and mountains..AND on the way back we walked up the river. I LOVED it. Our elephant was named See-yu. I rode with my friend Rachel. She's from Alaska and she invited me to come visit her sometime. I'm SO going to do that. We had fun planning my trip and then talking about our futures..getting to know one another. she's an education major and she only has student teaching left this semester and then she's done. I'm jealous about the done part. 3 semesters left..just keep swimming.
After the ride we had a phenomonal lunch. New LOVE LOVE LLLLOVE of spring rolls. We learned how to make those the other day so we'll be eating those some weekend.
Our afternoon was spend on a bamboo raft floating down the river. It was about an hour ride. Really relaxing and fun MINUS the fact that my oh so lovely roommate REFUSED to put sunscreen on. I was mad about that and then when it was over she was complaining my head off about being burnt. I put my headphones in and stopped listening. What a butt.

Ok. I have to go!! An american restaurant and Thai Massage tonight!!

I've been here for over a week and I'm sure you're wondering what I've been up to. We've vistited a lot of temples and markets basically. There was a cultural dinner thrown in there and last night we ventured to a Night safari, this was the highlight of my trip thus far. We got to hold baby tigers and baby pumas and get our pictures with them. It was really fun.

the trip has been good but I have to say that traveling on my own last spring was more fun. I hate the group travel thing because people aren't very cooperative with timing things.

Thailand is gorgeous and the people really are amazing. they take care of us whenever we have a problem. our hotels have been nice and the campus we're studying on is amazing. I wish Bethel Looked like this. Maybe I'll transfer to a southern school, or else push hans to go to grad school somewhere warm.

That's all i have time for now...wwe're on a time limit. I hope all is well at home.

I was trying really really hard to add pictures to this but it didn't work so I'm just going to have to post a link. This girl is amazing in her art work. I'm crazy about it. I'll warn you that you can see boobs in it but they're painted and absolutely beautiful. It doesn't even really phase you that it's boobs.

I wish I had a talent like this. It's one that I would really enjoy i think and then to have pictures like this girl that I can show people. it'd be amazing.

Planet Earth

If you haven't seen planet earth yet, you really need to get in the loop. I could watch the episodes without the sound on over and over again while I do my homework. With the sound on is even better because you get to hear about what you're seeing. They have crazy awesome shots of sharks and penguins.
They even have birds doing random mating dances and could possily get you get the mood, if you're into that kind of thing.
One of my favorite part of the whole series is a shot of baby ducks trying out their first flight. They're emerging from a tree and leap from really high up after their mom. Check it out.

All evening I've been whining in my head about having to do my "physical assessment" tomorrow. Running 1.5 miles has never been appealing to me and having to do it as a test sounds even less appealing. I looked up the benefits of wellness classes and it kind of made me laugh what I found:

FACTS

Nearly half of American youths aged 12-21 years are not vigorously active on a regular basis.
About 14 percent of young people report no recent physical activity. Inactivity is more common among females (14%) than males (7%) and among black females (21%) than white females (12%).
Participation in all types of physical activity declines strikingly as age or grade in school increases.

Only 19 percent of all high school students are physically active for 20 minutes or more, five days a week, in physical education classes.
Daily enrollment in physical education classes dropped from 42 percent to 25 percent among high school students between 1991 and 1995.
Well designed school-based interventions directed at increasing physical activity in physical education classes have been shown to be effective.

Based on the above information it looks like the physical health of America is going down the shitter, which it is. But does requiring students at a small private school to take yet another health class that isn't helping going to change anything? I don't think so.

They want us to get fit? They need to take us back to our roots. We need to go back to where physical fitness was fun. I wanna play with the scooters and the balls. I wanna play flag football, soccer, basketball. I wanna dance and bowl. And most of all,

I wanna run around with the HUGE parachute in the middle.

Orange Chicken Bawk bawk

I keep finding myself checking the blogs of other people to waste my time and then I realized why not come to my own procrastinator to do the job for me. It's 8'o'clock on Sunday night and I haven't touched my stack of homework yet. The lovely man in my life has been writing a paper all weekend and I haven't so much as opened a book. I've moved one three ring binder closer to me and I guess you could say I practiced listening to heart lung and bowel sounds since I just got my stethoscope from my mom tonight.
We had a lovely dinner at Big Bowl. The first time my family has eaten together in, well, probably ever since Sarah and Rebecca have been gone and Justin and Carmen have been together. We were celebratin some and got some free cake for mine and Steve's birthday. He's 44 and feeling rather middle aged. My mom feels old because Justin and I are far away from teenagers now. They told me 21 is far away and I'd believe that.
As I'm writing I'm noticing that Blogger is automatically saving this once a minute so that if the internet fails me I'm still safe. That's genious.
Any how. Dinner was excellent. I don't know why but Orange chicken just is something that can't really be wronged. i also loved the fried rice. Obviously the picture doesn't really tell you about that but it was excellent. Carmen also got the orange chicken and Jacob got teriakki chicken, but, once he tried mine he wanted to switch. All that adds up to it as the winner tonight. Along with Cherry Coke. Nearly everyone at the table had a cherry coke and again, who wouldn't want one. It's really delicious and sweet and one of thost things that you can't go wrong with. It was really nice to see the family tonight. I haven't seen them in a few weeks. I always say I'm so sick of them but really I love it when they come and see me. My brothers are so funny. They have a tone to say about nothing in particular. Zach wouldn't tell me much about school but would answer my color and shape questions. Jake said very little and Ben even less. It's so fun to have them around though and can't imagine NOT having them. I hope I get better at writing more focused blogs. This one is so scattered. If YOU have any ideas of what I should write about, by all means let me know. I don't know anything really. I guess I can say that I too have a lot to say about nothing too.
